Case Study
A Best Home Inspections
The Client
A Best is a home inspection service local to the Chicagoland area. They do great work, but did not have a web presence. Most of their business came in based on word of mouth, and networking with the owner. They were looking to expand their customer base and figured a website was the next logical step.
The Process
When you are looking for a home inspector, you are either buying or selling a house. This is one of the most stressful times in one's life. Trust is paramount. Before meeting with the client I researched what home inspections cover, what sets websites for home inspectors apart from the average business, and formulated a list of suggestions and questions I had for the owner.
I met with the owner and the marketing coordinator. They had a rough sketch of what they wanted for a logo, which I recreated samples of in Affinity Designer for them to choose from. Based on my research, I suggested what types of photos they should have taken and what information the site should highlight that I would need. I got feedback on proposed color palettes that the owner felt best represented his company.
I sketched out some barebones ideas with what information should be "above the fold". Home buying is wrestling with countless decisions, so making it easy for a prospective client and showing as much value up front as possible seemed crucial. I initially designed the site with expansion in mind, with a collapsible menu and a multitude of links. Time and resources were constrained so we opted for a single page site with intent to revisit as the website grows.
The Results
With the new website A Best Home Inspections saw a 15% increase in phone calls and a 30% uptick in business overall and continues to grow. With the website up the marketing coordinator was able to work google analytics and prepare an ad campaign. The client was thrilled with the outcome.
